Dave Snyder was born in New Haven, CT and grew up in Seattle, WA; Lexington, MA; and Sydney, Australia. He holds degrees in geology and English and currently works as a timekeeping clerk and a gardener in Chicago. Formerly, Dave was a producer on National Public Radio's Rewind and, for a while, orthorectified 19th century coastline maps for the Puget Sound River History Project. Dave's poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Quarterly West, the Iowa Review, Sentence and other journals. In 2006 he was awarded the Writers @ Work fellowship in poetry and in 2008, the Iowa Review Award. Dave's poem Hexagon: On Truth will appear in Best American Poetry 2008.
In the August '07 edition of New Pages, Rachel Yoder writes: ...these poems are interesting and original, moving like Rubik’s Cubes with their shifting ideas and images that click into multiple patterns as they examine birds and bees, a man who eats airplanes, robots who polish glass, and intelligence itself – both natural and artificial.
